I specialize in sound for theatre and post production for film, including: Sound Design, Editing, Composition, Mixing, and Studio Recording.
I started working professionally in the sound field while attending Missouri State University in the school's audio shop. Here I became knowledgeable on how to fix the various audio equipment that is used in the theatre, along with how every piece of equipment works. This understanding helped my designs immensely. I believe that an essential aspect to designing is knowing how each piece of equipment will perform. Missouri State University also gave me the opportunity to work at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. While working there, I was the Student Manager specializing in sound. The Hall is a road house that averages 4 Broadway Tours, 3 Children Shows, and numerous live bands and orchestras every season. This job exposed me to many different Sound Systems, and even more ways to set up a space and mix a show.
After my time at Missouri State University, I continued my education at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Here I built upon my design knowledge by focusing on the artistic side of Design. I did composition for many shows, and had my designs emerge as the atmosphere that supported the play. I also focused on studio recording, using UMKC's SSL Duality board, and did post production for short films and commercials.
I have also worked at various professional theatres. In Kansas City, I have worked for the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, The Coterie Theatre, and The Unicorn Theatre. Outside of Kansas City, I have worked for the Gilloiz Theatre, Peach State Summer Theatre, and the Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre.
I take pride in every design, and make each production unique. As a Sound Designer, I feel as though I should also help tell the story of the play, utilizing a different set of tools, by using sound as my medium.
